Would “Ohio’s Greatest Home Newspaper” publish a news story (not an editorial mind you) saying that one of the best things to happen in 2010 was Republicans winning all state-wide offices and gaining control of the redistricting process?
Why, of course they would:
There was plenty of bad news this year. But there was some good, too, or cause for optimism. Or at least news of change, which some people think can’t be any worse than 2008 and 2009.
Republicans swept all five statewide executive offices in November, including winning the governor’s race. That puts the party in charge of the once-a-decade redrawing of state legislative districts in 2011 and gives it a lot of influence over which party controls the state legislature until the 2020 census.
