When The Other Side Has a Leo

Anyone who doubts that Judge Brett Kavanaugh would target Roe v. Wade as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice might want to check the name, Leonard Leo. He is the executive vice president of the conservative 60,000 member Federalist Society, a legal group that has no small influence along Potomac waters.

The society submitted a couple of lists of possible presidential nominees before Kavanaugh was chaperoned to Trump by Leo, a well-tailored live-wire anti-abortionist who was described in the New Yorker last year by Jeffrey Toobin “as being shaped as much by Catholicism as by conservatism.”  Toobin quoted Leo:

Following up on a story discussed on Plunderbund back in December, The Supreme Court yesterday ruled 5-4 to allow the Christian cross to remain on land that was given to the VFW by Congress when it was ruled that the cross could not remain on public land. It is now a tiny island of private land within a sea of public property.

President Obama, in his weekly address, comments on the recent 5-4 Supreme Court decision that we’ve been discussing here at PG:

So let me get this straight. You can ship jobs overseas. Set up a foreign corporation. Then use said foreign corporation to affect U.S. elections. There should be teabaggers in the streets over this one, but don’t hold your breath. Their trumped up corporatist astroturf rallies don’t really give fuck all for Democracy.
