Apparently, the Ohio Fraternal Order of Police issued their endorsements today. Here’s the list with some thoughts and obligatory press release quotes from the campaigns after the jump:
Governor: Governor Ted Strickland Senate: Rob Portman Attorney General: Richard Cordray Treasurer: Kevin Boyce Secretary of State: Maryellen O’Shaughnessy Auditor: ???
Yep, you read that right. The F.O.P. announced no endorsement in the Auditor’s race between Hamilton County Commissioner David Pepper and Deleware County Prosecutor David Yost. Given Yost’s present elected office, I would say that the lack of a law & order endorsement by the F.O.P. hurts his candidacy the most.

Yesterday, the Buckeye Firearms Association announced that they were endorsing Jon Husted for Secretary of State and announced today an endorsement for Josh Mandel for State Treasurer. Amazingly, not a single conservative blog in Ohio, let alone a media outlet, has reported this yet.
Mandel’s campaign hasn’t even mentioned the endorsement on its website or Twitter, but Husted has it listed on his campaign website and Twitter.
In its endorsement, the Buckeye Firearms Association compared former House Speaker Husted’s quick vote (within three hours) to override then-Governor Bob Taft’s veto of bill that ultimately created the […]Full Story... →
In today’s Cleveland Plain Dealer story about the debate over the enabling legislation to regulate the newly state constitutionally created casinos, we see the GOP Jon Husted decrying policies to encourage labor and minority hiring:
Winning the support of minorities was crucial for the passage of last fall’s Issue 3, which will bring casinos to Ohio’s four largest urban areas.
Cleveland Cavaliers majority owner Dan Gilbert and Penn National Gaming, the entities that control the four gambling sites, knew it, too. They personally targeted NAACP leaders across Ohio, promising jobs, which earned them an endorsement from the […]Full Story... →
There’s a PD story today on just how primordially primitive Jon Husted’s Pavlovian teabagging of the Tea Party has been on its face, and how “angry” this all has made our good friends in the Tea Party (whatever the fuck that is).
Chris Littleton, president of the Ohio Liberty Council, said Husted’s overtures to the Tea Party are all propaganda that would make him laugh if he weren?t so angry. He said Husted declined to attend many candidate forums put on by Tea Party groups and similar organizations.
The reporter, Joe Guillen, even goes on to quote head Cleveland […]Full Story... →
According to the Hamilton Pulse Journal, Ohio’s Tea Party groups are PISSED at the Ohio Republican Party for using this logo to promote the ORP’s preferred candidates over the Tea Party preferred candidates.
And they’re particularly pissed that they using it to 1) promote Jon Husted’s candidacy; 2) promote State Central Committee incumbents facing….. Tea Party challengers!
Tea Party leaders say the Ohio GOP is ?declaring war? on the movement with mailers claiming all of its endorsed candidates embrace Tea Party values.
That is according to Chris Littleton, president of the Ohio Liberty Council, a consortium […]Full Story... →
The Dayton Daily News is going to have to change his name to the Sonny Thomas Daily News. Today, the family of DDN papers is reporting that Sonny Thomas is a wanted man. Apparently, he allegedly violated a protection order taken out by the mother of his son by showing up to her house unexpected.
In other news, a reader forwarded us a post on his MySpace page from when Ted Kennedy died that makes clear he’s not just a big Bee Gees fan, but should be in the Klan (and I don’t mean Wu Tang.)

The mere fact that Jon Husted is spending $150k on ads with Time Warner Cable on Fox News alone is NOT evidence of Husted in a primary panic.
Just because these ads, with their Tea Party flag waiving, are airing on Fox News until the primary is just a coincidence.
Remember this has absolutely nothing to do with Tea Party favorite primary opponent Sandra O’Brien or the rumors that she is actually beating?him in primary polling.
And now a word from our Fox News sponsors… (HT: ProgressOhio for the vid capture)Full Story... →
Is it possible that the Ohio Republican Party is a part of the infiltration?? That FAKE logo has Matt Hurley worried!? And Jon Husted?? Non-patriot!Full Story... →
The same logo used in Jon Husted’s lit piece is being protested by GOP State Central Committee candidates in Butler County.
They’ve even issued a SCAM ALERT on their campaign website:
The Ohio Republican Party (ORP) under the leadership of Kevin DeWine, recently spent over $330,000 for campaign direct mailings. Most state wide mailings include a “look-alike” Tea Party logo, seen below, in an attempt to scam and confuse potential voters into believing these candidates are endorsed by Tea Party organizations.
They are NOT.
In many cases the candidates promoted by the ORP have never […]Full Story... →
Jon Husted wants the Ohio media to believe that the fact that he is the only statewide candidate presently running an ad has nothing to do with the primary challenge of Tea Party favorite Sandra O’Brien…
Even though just a week ago, Husted was slow to pull out of the Springboro Tea Party event after its founder’s racist tweet.? State Sen. Shannon Jones, who was actually ENDORSED by the Springboro Tea Party, pulled out condemning Sonny Thomas’ racist tweet.? Husted has yet to condemn it, for fear it might hurt his standing with the Tea Party movement.? Every […]Full Story... →
