And rightfully so. He’s mad as hell (pdf). Tiberi made all kinds of “carpetbagging” accusations and even accused Shamansky of breaking the law, while he did no such thing – and there is zero evidence pointing towards it.

OK, so this would be pathetic normally. Tiberi’s “Sham”ansky ad, which tries to attack Shamansky for owning more than one residence, debuted this past weekend, and I’ve heard from a pal who works on Republican ad campaigns at a national level that the general consensus is the ad is terrible. Which meshes with my take as well.

Now, the Franklin County GOP claims to have filed a complaint with the Franklin County Board of Elections, claiming Shamansky committed “voter fraud”. While that is slimy and baseless (because they can’t attack him on the issues, they have to make stuff […]

Remember the flareup over a picture of Bob Shamansky with a retired military man he happened to bump into at a parade this summer? At the time, Eric pointed out that The Strategy Group for Media had a picture of Tiberi with an active duty soldier on their website.

Asking Bob to remove a photo of an old friend who happens to be a retired general is the chickenhawk coming home to roost. Problem is there is more evidence of Pat Tiberi granstanding for the military vote. Maybe they can now ask The Strategy Group for Media to […]

Tiberi’s “Sham”ansky ad

On October 4, 2006 By

Saw this ad last weekend, and it’s finally up on YouTube. IMO, it’s terrible – and I’m not even sure what the point of the ad is. (HT: BSB)

You can see part of the Shamansky campaign’s response after the jump.

Bob Shamansky today called for the resignations of Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) and Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) for their roles in attempting to cover up former Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL)’s inappropriate advances towards a 16-year-old Congressional Page.

Said Shamansky, “the time has come for House Speaker Dennis Hastert and House Majority Leader John Boehner to resign from Congress. It’s now clear that they both knew for many months that one of their fellow Republican congressmen was sending inappropriate messages to several teenage boys who worked in the House as pages. That they both did nothing and refused to […]

Boehner flip-flip-flops

On October 3, 2006 By

First Boehner said he talked to Hastert about Foley, then he denied it, and now he’s saying he did, in fact, talk to Hastert about this… maybe.

Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) this morning switched his position on the leader’s culpability, telling a radio interviewer, “I believe I talked to the Speaker and he told me it had been taken care of.”

Sheesh.

UPDATE: ProgressOhio has a nice summary and collection of links – plus some contact numbers should you want to let Boehner know what an incompetent GOP sycophant he is.

Tiberi returns Foley’s money

On October 3, 2006 By

It took a few days (and a little prodding from Shamansky and the liberal blogosphere), but Tiberi has decided to donate the $2000 he received from Mark Foley’s PAC.

Tiberi spokesman Bruce Cuthbertson said yesterday that the contribution Tiberi received from Foley?s PAC will be donated to two local childabuse prevention programs.

“For someone who focuses on family values, Congressman Tiberi has an awful lot of ties to the GOP?s most unsavory characters,” said Drew Tappan, spokesman for Democrat Bob Shamansky, who is running against Tiberi.

Tappan referred to contributions Tiberi had previously returned from U.S. Rep. Bob Ney, […]

DailyKos diarist cbastian has the story of meeting Zack Space. It’s interesting, if short on detail, and not surprising that Space left a good impression. I quite enjoyed meeting him myself.
