Haven’t heard a peep from John McCain today, yet, even though he was on “Face the Nation” yesterday morning tearing Obama a new one over his foreign policies.
Obama was roundly criticized by Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden when they were rivals of Obama’s during the Democratic nomination fight. Then, McCain and the Republicans attacked Obama over his willingness to go it alone and take unilateral action in Pakistan if it meant taking out Osama bin Laden.
Obama might have finally put to rest the nonsense that Democrats are “weak” on terrorism and wrong on foreign policy […]Full Story... →
“Scoop” Keeling gets yet another Ohio news story completely wrong.
Remember how the conservative Buckeye Institute claimed that their private RICO lawsuit forced ACORN into a settlement that kicked it out of Ohio and from any voter registration or GOTV efforts altogether in the State?
Yeah, it turns out that just like the overblown allegations of voter fraud, it was completely meritless.
From the Associated Press, we learn that the settlement agreement did not force ACORN to surrender its business license in Ohio at all:
ACORN also has agreed to surrender its Ohio business license and […]Full Story... →
I like Ohio House Elections and Ethics Committee Chairman Dan Stewart (D-Columbus).? He was the main Democratic sponsor of H.B. 176, the bill that would have added sexual orientation and gender identity to Ohio’s housing and employment anti-discrimination laws.? But I don’t understand what his committee is doing killing the Golden Week of voting.
Today, his Committee voted out H.B. 260, which would make substantial changes to Ohio’s election laws.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Democratic House bill would get rid of the “Golden Week”- wherein people could register to vote and then cast an […]Full Story... →
I have audio of President Obama saying the title of this post. Listen to it yourself.[audio:http://www.plunderbund.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/obama_fries.mp3]
You might be somewhat confused as to why a recording of President Obama exists using such salty language, and it turns out that he had a friend named Ray during his youth who cursed like a sailor, and who was quoted in Dreams From My Father. When Obama made the audio version of the book, he had to read Ray’s quotes aloud. And boy, is it funny.
Hat tip to April Winchell, who also has many many more hilarious recordings.
I really hate it when people tell me “you’re better than that”.
It usually comes in an email or a comment in response to some ranting post and usually takes a form similar to “How DARE YOU use the word [insert non-PC term here (e.g. retard)] to describe [insert name of retarded asshat here]. You are better than that.”
It would be nice if people really did have such high opinions of me. But saying “you’re better than that” never actually means that. It is rude and condescending – like something your third-grade teacher might say after you get caught […]Full Story... →
Walking down the alley on my way back from the Obama rally this afternoon I passed what appeared to be a U.S. Postal Service truck covered with John McCain signs.
As I got closer I saw another sign in the door of the truck: Democrats for McCain.
Anyone recognize him?Full Story... →
A couple of days ago I posted about a guy named Richard Duncan whose name appears on my Ohio Absentee Ballot.
At the time I had no clue who he was, but I did a little digging this evening and found out some more information.
Project Vote Smart lists him as a divorced male with two daughters (Bridget and Brittany) who lives in Aurora, Ohio.
He is also a realtor as well as a serial candidate for office.
In the past few years he has run for Vice President of the United States (2004), President (2008) and […]Full Story... →
I have to give the Dispatch credit for one thing- at least they are consistent.
Their conservative editorial board doesn’t like Franklin County’s Quality Construction Standards because those standards benefit construction companies that use fairly-paid workers who usually- gasp! – belong to a union.
This one issue seems to drive many of their endorsements this year.
As County Commissioner, Mary Jo Kilroy supported those standards and last week the Dispatch gave that as their reason for not endorsing her for congress.
Paula Brooks, however, challenged those standards and the Dispatch used this as their reason to endorse Paula in […]Full Story... →
No, no, no… I said: JOHN MCCAIN IS OLD. And he can’t hear very well, either.
Tim has a post up about John McCain mishearing a series of interview questions and basically threatening to attack Spain, one of our NATO allies.
This kind of supports a theory I have which is: McCain can’t hear worth a shit. It seems pretty likely, actually, given his age.
My first clue came when I saw McCain looking down and turning his head during Palin’s speech in Dayton. He wasn’t looking at Palin’s ass, he was trying to hear her.
Again, it […]Full Story... →
I know we are supposed to be talking about the issues, but this is just too fucking funny to pass up: Sarah Palin Baby Name Generator
If I was Sarah’s kid I’d be named: Spackle Camshaft Palin
Barack Obama: Tarp Lazer Palin
John McCain: Steam Fangs Palin
Joseph Biden: Knife Pile Palin (Joe Biden: Beans Harpoon Palin )
