The following is a report on a voting issue in Bowling Green Ohio. In order for this incident to be legally considered voter suppression one must prove that the person responsible had the intention to suppress votes. Proving what someone was intending to do is a difficult thing. However, if we were to simply look at the outcome of the incident reported bellow, it would be safe to assume that voters were discouraged from voting. If we raise awareness about these incidents we can help prevent them from happening to others. If everyone does their part to document what is […]Full Story... →
I’ve received reports that behavior looking suspiciously like voter suppression is happening at precinct 24E in Cincinnati at Mother of Christ Church. I’ve heard from two sources, one of whom wishes to remain anonymous. Legally, nothing is considered voter suppression unless it is proven that there was the intention to suppress votes. Proving intention is a tricky thing. However, the outcome, if these reports are accurate, is that people who wanted to vote in this election may be discouraged from voting or not have their votes counted unless the election is close enough to warrant counting provisional ballots.

Five hundred and thirty seven.
That’s the number of votes that decided the 2000 election. And if you don’t go to the polls today, we could see the same sort of razor-thin margins here in Ohio.
If you or anyone else you know needs a reminder about what President Obama has done for us, and what’s at stake here, take a look at the following list…
25 reasons from 25 people who are voting Obama:
1. “The Affordable Care Act is saving my daughter’s life.”
2. “Obama is for the vets. He helped us […]Full Story... →
“All we have to do is replace Obama… We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We don’t need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Ryan budget… We just need a president to sign this stuff. We don’t need someone to think it up or design it. The leadership now for the modern conservative movement for the next 20 years will be coming out of the House and the Senate… Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become president of […]Full Story... →
Ohio Right to Life President Mike Gonidakis must be taking notes from Mitt Romney. He used a media platform to spread a lie he knew would advance his political agenda. Ohio Public Radio reporter Jo Ingles had to fact check him after the fact. However Mike and Mitt know that what the audience hears the first time around is what they remember, and follow up fact checks are less likely to reach them or be believed.
This is where you come in. If you want to preserve […]Full Story... →
The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio sent a letter to Celina High School yesterday, urging administrators to reconsider their unconstitutional decision to prohibit students from wearing shirts that express their support of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students.
“Schools should be a place where students are free to express their beliefs,” said ACLU of Ohio Legal Director James Hardiman. “None of these young people acted inappropriately, and only wished to express their support for all members of their community. Expressing their views did not disrupt the learning environment, but now the administration’s unconstitutional overreaction has.”

I admit my headline is shocking and dramatic. I made it that way for a reason. We as a nation have to face the reality that if Mitt Romney becomes President and follows through on what he has said he will do, people will die as a result. Real people. If Crystal has a recurrence of cancer, she could be one of those people.
Yesterday I got a message on my public Facebook Page from someone who follows what I post there. Her name is Crystal and she wanted to share a letter her husband had […]Full Story... →
Remember the voter intimidation billboards that were taken down and replaced with the message, “Voting is a right, not a crime?”
A message similar to the one on the original billboards has cropped up on a van outside the Franklin County Early Vote location.
Jonny Lifeson spotted this van parked outside the early vote location on the North side of Columbus while on her way to work this morning at 8:26am. The van has Romney stickers on it.
According to the Brennan Center for Justice, fraud by individual voters is both irrational […]Full Story... →
This is a serious storm, but we are going to do what it takes to keep people safe and secure, and make sure the communities affected get the assistance they need. FEMA is working with state and local governments to respond effectively. We all owe a debt of thanks to the first responders who will be dealing with the immediate impact of the storm.
If you live in the storm’s path, please listen to state and local authorities about where and how to take shelter and stay safe — and encourage your friends and family to do […]Full Story... →
“Listen, y’all. This is the moment that could change everything.
If we don’t want a Romney-Ryan White House backed by an Akin-Thompson Senate, we’ve got to get a move on. Romney’s right-hand man Paul Ryan voted against family planning 60 times. And one of their top advisors called women’s issues “shiny objects of distraction.
I’m not a shiny object. I’m a woman and an American, and I’m not going to sit out these last 9 days.”
~ Ashley Judd (in a fundraising letter for Emily’s List sent out today)
Reading the above message reminded me […]Full Story... →
Hurricane Sandy could be the largest storm to hit the United States, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s website.
“The size of this alone, affecting a heavily populated area, is going to be history making,” said Jeff Masters, a hurricane specialist who writes a blog posted on the Weather Underground.
Everything is harder when you’re poor. If you’ve ever been poor you know what I’m talking about. Something as simple as doing your laundry can become a daylong chore because you have to get on a bus and go to a laundry-mat. Health issues loom […]Full Story... →
