Our new president continues to live in unpresidential style with his reliance on Twitterboarding us with whatever comes to mind. If we think he factually errs, he dispatches Kellyanne Conway with grade school rulers to slap our fingers with “alternative facts”.
On his first full day in office he has already perfected George Orwell’s lexicon of new words with extraordinary convenience. My favorite from Orwell’s “newspeak” collection is “blackwhite” – defined as “a “contradiction of plain fact…a loyal willingness to say that black is white when discipline demands it.”
So Kelly isn’t really breaking new ground with alternative facts, which could really be the robotic work of an altered state of mind.
You have now seen our leader at CIA Headquarters, which he once berated in the campaign as a Clinton tool on a witch hunt. But he now assured the spooks that he has the greatest love and respect for them. The greatest love. The greatest respect.
Or when he tweets;
“WOW, television ratings just out: 31 million people watched the inauguration. 11 million more than the very good ratings from 4 years ago!”
Or when he gives thanks for the “great reviews” of his speech. Oh? Shameless alternative facts?
Folks, you have to worry about the leader of the free world and the fate of America.
Is there something else here besides witnessing a preening mad peacock? Is it just possible, just possible – just possible! – that he suffers from deep insecurity in his soul? I know. Hard to believe for a guy of his sweeping ego and full-throttle challenge to his critics. but….is there a psychiatrist in the house?
I mean when have you ever heard of an incoming president supposedly so brazenly fixed on command and control to choose the moment for a dismissal of the media crowd estimates. “Very dishonest! “ he growled. But why should he care about crowds? What difference do they make for a titan? The campaign should be over by now. But Team Trump is still coming at us with his alternative Twitterboarded fantasies.
