As we plod on America’s dark journey into the Theater of the Absurd we find House Speaker Rep. Paul Ryan shrugging that lies mean nothing to him. Especially, Donald Trump’s tweeted lies. As Ryan explained on “60 Minutes,” “it doesn’t matter to me.’’

Here we have the third highest ranking elected official in the new administration (behind Herr Trump and What’s-his-name) saying that orange lies don’t matter. That was during a tussle with anchor Scott Pelley when asked about the Trump tweet that voter fraud prevented him from winning the popular vote in a “landslide”.

“I don’t know,” Ryan peeped. “I’m not really focused on these things, I have no way of backing that up . I have no knowledge of such things…It doesn’t matter to me. He won the election. The way i see the tweets you’re talking about, he’s basically giving voice to a lot of people who have felt they were voiceless. He’s communicating with people who who’ve felt they have not been listened to. He’s going to be an unconventional president”.

Then comes the grand curtain line: “Who cares what he tweeted, you know, on some Thursday night if we fix this country’s big problems. That’s just the way I look at it.” (For Team Trump, the end justifies the means.)

During the campaign, Trump called Ryan “disloyal,” “weak,” and ineffective.”

But now, Ryan, as weak and servile as they come these days, is sucking up. No. 3 on the nation’s depth chart? Keep that in mind when the speaker showers his slanderer with rose petals to freshen the odor in the days ahead.

In Trump World, Johnnie will now be able to tell the teacher, without consequences, that the dog ate his homework.
