The evidence of a deranged Donald Trump inspired by the ghost of Hitler continues to grow. The latest avalanche of damning material arrived in the review of a volume examining the Nazi leader’s malignant words and actions jn a new book of nearly 1,000 pages in the New York Times. Titled “Hitler Ascent,1889-1939”, Vol. One, by German historian Volker Ullrich, the bio provides a matrix that easily invites a horrific comparision with the Republican nominee.
The reviewer, Michiko Kakutani, draws many elements of Hitler’s brutal rise to power without mentioning Trump – it was translated from a German text – but the parallel to Herr Trump is clear. Not even Trump’s righteous supporters can ignore these words in the review:
“Hitler increasingly presented himself in messianic terms, promising ‘to lead Germany to a new era of national greatness, though he was typically vague about his actual plans. He often harked back to a golden age for the country, Ullrich says, the better ‘to paint the present day in hues that were all the darker. Everywhere you looked now there was only decline and decay.’’’
Or these words:
He peppered his speeches with coarse phrases and put -downs of hecklers Even as he fomented chaos by playing to crowds’ fears and resentments, he offered himself as the visionary leader who could restore law and order.
“Concealing his anti-Semitism beneath a ‘mask of moderation’ when trying to win the support of socially liberal middle classes, he specialized in big, theatrical rallies staged with spectacular elements borrowed from the circus.”
There is so much evidence. Narcissism. The big lie. “Bottomless mendacity” – and the inability to know the difference.
Trump has openly added to it himself, having boasted about his genetic superiority that made him, “like , a smart person.”
More evidence of his superiority? It’s not true, he has said, boastfully, that all people are born equal. “Some are smart. Some aren’’t.” He is smugly proud of his genetic superiority. But his mere self-references to his own superiority speaks off a master race. Hitler? Should you doubt it?
