Ever since John Kasich piled up a 60 pct. landslide victory over Donald Trump (3 votes to 2) in Dixville Notch, Coos County, N. H. in the flagship round of the Republican primaries, there’s been no dimming of the Ohio governor’s moonbeams in his good-will journey of boasts and Bibles.
Moonbeams? Even as he finished dead last in Nevada and a new poll showed him behind Trump in Ohio, his cup-bearers have concocted a new commercial called “Never Give Up” to be aired in Vermont for Heaven’s sake. It’s heroic thematic line: “Like the people who make America great, John […]Full Story... →
Ever since John Kasich decided that he’d rather be president than governor he’s been delivering all of us decades into his past: the blue-collar kid from Western Pennsylvania whose father was a mailman; the former chairman of the U.S. House Budget Committee who singlehandedly (the way it sounds in his current speeches) balanced the federal budget; the former member of the Armed Services Committee who opposed the B-52 bomber: the can=do politician who insists that he is “surging” in the presidential race even when he’s not. In his long history in Ohio he’s assured us that he can accomplish everything […]Full Story... →
Gov. John Kasich has offered no apologies for a billion dollar per year for-profit charter school system that over five years of his administration has been downgraded to national joke status.
The Washington Post recently dubbed Ohio’s for-profit charter school system a “mess,” even as Kasich says his record in Ohio makes him the best Republican candidate for president.
Documents including emails recovered through requests for public records provided more clarity Wednesday morning on the large sums of taxpayer dollars involved and the web of state players who helped orchestrate a scheme to milk taxpayers of millions that went […]Full Story... →
By the time the witching hour arrived on the east coast and in heartland states like Ohio, way out west in Nevada, Donald Trump had racked up a 45.9 percent win margin as GOP caucus voters bet big on the New York real estate billionaire and reality TV star.
Trump’s huge win tonight will put pressure on the remaining weak Republican candidates, like John Kasich in Ohio and former neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, to get out of the race. More intense matchups between Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who are competing for second place. can […]Full Story... →
It’s pretty amazing when you think about it. Ohio Gov. John Kasich works in “Candyland,” as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called the easy Republican-led legislature and state Kasich was gifted in 2010 and has enjoyed ever since.
Yet even though he has Ohio media under his thumb—first demonstrated in 2010 and then again in 2014 when he refused to debate his challengers and performed so miserably in an editorial meeting with the Cleveland Plain Dealer that Camp Kasich forced its take down because it showed just how obnoxious their leader can be when he thinks no one […]Full Story... →
In 2004, a bullet fired by her then husband’s gun tore into Kelli Prather’s back. Although the wound was not life threatening, she required surgery, which only aided in the recovery of the physical wounds she suffered. Sufficided to say, Kelli Prather, the third Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, has some thoughts on gun violence. As a Black Lives Matter activist and occupational therapist, she knows the long journey those that survive gun violence faces. She remembers, vividly, the incidents of unarmed African Americans being shot under questionable circumstances and killed by Cincinnati police officers around the turn of the century. She […]Full Story... →
