Donald J. Trump generally commands any stage he’s on and has the freedom to say anything he wants. Trump focused his Twitter cross-hairs Thursday on the generally off-putting, low-polling, gaffe-prone Governor of Ohio, John Kasich.

Kasich says Trump, who can draw crowds and media because he has high name recognition, is all bombast and no experience.  But Kasich, polling low in national and state polls,  is running a one-state campaign—that is, not finishing lower than third place in New Hampshire if he wants to move on to South Carolina, the third early primary state.

Gov. Kasich is spending millions in the Granite State to pump himself up while taking others down. Donald Trump is the target of new Kasich TV ads in New Hampshire.

The New York billioniare who can self-fund his campaign if he wants, let Gov. Kasich have it today when he unloaded ten tweets that ridiculed and mocked the 63-year old governor best known for his distemper and often jerky behavior.

Mr. Trump, who has been leading the Republican presidential candidate field in national polling since summer, shot Kasich with a magazine of tweets aimed at the governor with one aimed Kasich’s campaign PR chief, John Weaver. Kasich’s recent debate performances, and some policy announcements, have convinced some he won’t be the nominee next year.

Trump’s Ten Tweets

“Governor Kasich, whose failed campaign & debating skills have brought him way down in the polls, is going to spend $2.5 million against me.”

“John Kasich should focus his special interest money on building up his failed image, not negative ads on me.”

“John Kasich, despite being Governor of Ohio, is losing to me in the Ohio polls. Pathetic!”

“I want to do negative ads on John Kasich, but he is so irrelevant to the race that I don’t want to waste my money.”

“Watch Kasich squirm — if he is not truthful in his negative ads I will sue him just for fun!”

“Kasich has already spent $6 million on ads in New Hampshire and his numbers have gone down. People from NH are smart!”

“I loved beating John Kasich in the debates, but it was easy—he came in dead last!”

“John Kasich ad guy wanted to work for me, but his proposal was a rip off – I said NO! Now ripping Kasich.”

“Doesn’t help Kasich to do negative ads on me because he still has to go through everyone else – he’s almost last.”

“John Kasich fell right into President Obama’s trap on ObamaCare, and the people of Ohio are suffering for it. Shame!”

To win the presidency, Trump will need to carry Ohio. Whether we support the governor or not doesn’t matter. Ohioans may not take kindly to being made into a laughing stock of the nation when it comes time to mark that ballot at the polls. The thing about having power is knowing how to use it.

I’m not sure how to respond to this. I detest Trump and his twitter wars, acting more like a 13-year-old than a Presidential candidate. But at the same time, he ~is~ attacking, fairly truthfully, yet another Republican candidate I cannot stand.
I guess, as Machiavelli said, and I’m paraphrasing, ‘one should never interrupt one’s enemy while he is destroying himself.’

Those are good points, but I didn’t see where Trump took aim at Ohioans in general.

Certainly Niccola Machiavelli was a master of political connivance and left no advantage unturned, and compared to him John Kashich is a buffoon, but I have always heard that quote attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte at the battle of Austerlitz in 1805.
Of course I could be wrong.
