As we not-so-patiently wait for the country to go over the fiscal cliff, I thought we could all use something to brighten the mood. Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was glad to help.

Yesterday Gingrich sent a Tweet complementing Sacha Baron Cohen on his part in Les Miserables. “He handles the comedic role brilliantly” says Gingrich.

After a little research, it turns out Baron Cohen actually IS in the movie version of Les Mis. But we’re absolutely sure this “comedic role” no where compares to Mr. Baron Cohen’s interview with my “main man Newt Ging-ga-rich” during his Ali-G days. ┬áTo his credit, the former speaker of Da House handled the exceedingly crazy questions rather well.

With his three wives and his “open marriages”, the name Newt Gingrich doesn’t often come up in conversations about strong women leaders, but Gingrich properly laughs off a question from Mr. G about the dangers of a woman president falling in love with a bad boy like Saddam Hussein.

While Gingrich’s recent advice to Boehner on the fiscal cliff is complete crazy-talk that will, rightfully, be ignored, it seems the guy can at least hold his own against people who, unlike Boehner, actually admit to being comedians.
