Strip club at center of Mecklenborg issues worst non-denial ever
WLWT Channel 5 in Cincinnati admits they’ve been trying to track down whether Mecklenborg’s female passenger was a female stripper at a nearby gentleman’s club:
WLWT has been working to confirm reports that the woman works as a stripper at a club in Lawrenceburg. No one at the club would confirm her employment, but an employee at the club told WLWT they would pass along a message to her. (emphasis added.)
Um…. if she doesn’t work there, how do you know you can give her a message?!?
Meanwhile, WLWT reports that Mecklenborg has issued a new statement tonight that goes a bit further than him just noting he’s pled not guilty:
“Being human, I have made a mistake and this has caused great hurt to my family, and I’m deeply sorry for that. I’ve served tirelessly and well my constituents and I want to apologize to them as well. While the discovery process in this case goes on, I am entitled to the same presumption of innocence as any other citizen. Beyond this, it is a personal matter, which I trust you will respect.”
Wait, I thought it was the 1920s Nazis who created a phony sense of a right to privacy that lead to the Supreme Court to legalize abortion in Roe v. Wade, Representative Mecklenborg?
Apparently, this guy thinks the government has the right to monitor a woman’s uterus, but the public doesn’t have the right to know the full facts of a public official’s crimes? The presumption of innocence is a legal presumption at trial in a court of law. It, unfortunately, is not binding in the court of public opinion.
Anyone else notice that he didn’t apologize for the embarassment to his family when the media was just treating this as nothing more than an OVI offense?
