The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is one of the best known and most respected civil rights organizations in the country.

And yesterday they finally stepped up and labeled the gay-bashing homophobes at the Family Research Council as what they are: a hate group.

The FRC, famous for their non-gay but overly effeminate leaders as well as their overtly homophobic teachings (e.g. “What can I do to prevent homosexual activism from being taught in our school?”) quickly responded…

We hold to the indisputable fact that the family – a Dad, a Mom, and children – is the best building block of a good society, which is why we oppose efforts to transform it based on personal sexual preference.

Ah yes! “Personal sexual preference” i.e. homosexuality is a chosen/learned behavior and a ‘personal choice’.

It’s the old “we’re not a hate group… we just hate gay people because they chose to be weird and different and wrong and hated by God” defense.

Lovely.

Classic.

Assholes.

I thought they had declared the FRC a “hate group” a couple of years ago. I’ve always thought it was on their list. Maybe they’ve just added something new to their charges against them? I’m sure this group is always coming up with new, even more despicable claims.

  • The SPLC has long maintained a list of anti-gay groups but they officially upgraded some of them to “hate group” status this year, including the FRC.

The FRC is obviously not the most obvious and blatant offender on the list. But they certainly are one of the most dangerous not only because of their size but also because their hate-filled message is often hidden cleverly behind layers of pseudo-science and fake tolerance…

We love everyone just like Jesus taught us (did I mention the gays rape babies?!)

We only love ’em until they’re born.
