As if on cue, the Kasich campaign announced that Franklin County GOP Chairman Doug Preisse will “run” his newly formed inauguration committee, as reported in the Columbus Dispatch. However, this does not, inherently contradict our earlier reporting that former Deters chief-of-staff Matt Borges will be the Executive Director of the Committee as Borges himself tweeted yesterday as such. We’re waiting for confirmation as such.
Ordinarily, a campaign appoints a figurehead as the “Chairman” of the Inaugural Committee, while the real muscle work is done by an Executive Director who actually runs the show.
Preisse is precisely the type of person Kasich would be expected to appoint in a figurehead type role in his campaign. None of the media reports have specifically covered the situation with Borges, nor does the Kasich’s campaign press release reportedly said what title Preisse has. Chances are Preisse is the Chairperson of the Inaugural Committee and Borges the Executive Director.
