    The market's value is not in its similarity to a Kroger, but rather in its link to the past and use as a tourist draw.

    Perhaps the market would be better off as a non-municipal entity, but I don't see how privatizing it is the only answer. The wildly popular (and profitable) North Market in Columbus is managed through a non-profit org. A similar setup would rid the West Side market of any potential corruption, but would prevent it from being bought and bulldozed for a Walgreens by private interests.
