I agree with Potts. Ohio would be a great place to have the Democratic National Convention. I’m torn though. I think a road trip really works better for blogging and documenting going to something like this. Driving to Cleveland or downtown Cbus doesn’t precisely qualify as a road trip. One thing’s for sure, we’d rock the coverage if it comes to our state. David may even get more than a couple posts up about it, including photos of his access badge! Heh. I kid. I actually love that kind of stuff.

Outside of our obvious OH-IO bias, what would be your favorite city to host the DNC if you were planning to attend?

I vote for a camp-out in Bend, Oregon.

  • Going by my two maps and past invites, I think it comes down to:

    *Cleveland
    *Pittsburgh
    *Seattle
    *D.C.
    *Minneapolis

  • I gotta say given this list I'd choose Cleveland or Mini Soda. Love to see it in Cleveland, but doubt that would happen. I'd rank it in terms of possibility like this:

    Minneapolis*
    Pittsburgh
    Cleveland*
    Seattle
    DC

    * My preferences, but I'd take any of the top 3 and be very happy.

  • Remember that Cleveland was one of the four finalists for the Republican National Convention in 2008. It's by no means a weak contender.

Since the Republicans actually HELD their convention in Minneapolis last year, I'd also toss it down the list. I wouldn't strike it completely though, New York was an '08 finalist for us. But obviously, it wasn't picked.

  • I put them 3rd and made them 1 of 2 preferences! 😉 I don't think that qualifies as weak among 5 contenders. I'm not sure if you get any bump in a state by locating a convention there, but if you do I certainly think Cleveland and Pittsburgh need to be heavily considered. I think Seattle is too far away from the civilized world. DC is…um…DC.

  • D.C. was included because the party invited them to submit a bid for the '08 convention, as were the other cities.

    I'll have more tomorrow.

It should go to Lorain, OH. We have a magnificently revamped downtown with 33% storefront occupancy, and nothing beats the feeling as empty plastic grocery bags drift across the deserted streets like tumbleweed.

  • Sometimes I feel…like I'm going in insane. These cold and lonely nights…in the city of Lorain.

i forgot to mention that most of the storefronts in Lorain are occupied by lawyers, bail bondsmen and relief agencies.
