Wonder how the “READ THE BILL!!!” folks will respond to this?

At a town hall meeting Wednesday Sen. Jim Inhofe told Chickasha residents he does not need to read the 1,000 page health care reform bill, he will simply vote against it.

“I don’t have to read it, or know what’s in it. I’m going to oppose it anyways,” he said.

  • I’m assuming Senators do not read entire bills but have their staffers do it and give them a synopsis. They probably read the parts their staffers highlight. Since Inhofe does not care to know what is in a bill, he should probably cut some staff.

The following figure is just the salaries of his staff and does not include other overhead. In 2008 Inhofe paid his staff a total of $2,438,492.

Shouldn’t he give some of that money back to the taxpayers?

  • Well, I’m not reading the bill either. I support it too. But then again I’m not an elected official entrusted with the responsibility for legislating.

  • I think you missed the point of the post. I was agreeing with you.

I was simply stating that since Inhofe did not even have some of his flunkies read the bill and report back to him, maybe he should reduce his staff salaries. Evidently, he’s not asking them to do much.

  • No no. I knew you were agreeing. LOL. I just wanted to add this to the thread. 😉
