In case I haven’t mentioned it in awhile, I’m a data junkie. And Jennifer Brunner’s office just made my day by announcing a new website called Better Lives, Better Ohio that allows you to search through all kinds of information about Ohio. Everything from economic data to public safety data.

Here’s what I found in the first 10 minutes of searching:

Fayette and Vinton counties had the highest teenage pregnancy rate in the state. Nearly 10% of girls between 15 and 19 got pregnant in 2006. Delaware county was the lowest with about 3%.

Earlier this week Modern at BSB suggested we get rid of the State Senate since they can’t seem to get anything accomplished are they are stalling the budget process.

An interesting idea, but probably not very likely.

However New York’s State Comptroller, facing a similiar issue with his State Senate, has given us another option that I never would have thought of.
