I’m not sure I’d take my AIG criticisms this far:

In an interview with Cedar Rapids, Iowa, radio station WMT-AM today, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, said executives of AIG should consider following what he described of the Japanese model of shamed corporate executives: apology or suicide.

I’ve always thought one of the biggest strengths great bloggers have is an ability to distill something down to it’s essence and communicate it. ModernEsquire has always been one of those highly capable of such. He does so again with the wingnut tea party nonsense:

Apparently, I’m supposed to be impressed that 4,000 people showed up in Cincinnati for the area’s “Tea Party” protest. I’m not. That’s about how many showed up regularly for McCain/Palin events in the fall, which isn’t surprising since it’s the same people in both crowds.

They both ran for RNC chairman this year – along with a couple of old, racist white guys.

The election process was far […]

Here’s a crazy idea: let’s take politics out of the redistricting process and allow the public to participate.

That seems to be exactly what the League of Women Voters is trying to accomplish with their Ohio Redistricting Competition. According to the rules, anyone can submit a plan for redistricting…

Plans submitted under the competition will be ranked and scored based on specific issues, including traditional redistricting principles (compactness and communities of interest) and modern redistricting principles (competitiveness and representational fairness).

So here’s my first suggestion: use the shortest splitline algorithm to generate the districts. “Because the […]
