I know, I know. Hoops holiday. Consider this multi-tasking. This was too good to pass up. Joe the Non-Plumber is horny. He thought you all should know and so do I:

Overview of the Week’s Polls

On March 19, 2009 By

Lots of polling data came out in the past few days. Figured I’d give a quick summary of the results.

In the race to replace George Voinovich as Ohio’s next senator, Quinnipiac has both Lee Fisher and Jennifer Brunner are polling ahead of Rob Portman. Fisher beats Portman 41 – 33 and Brunner beats him 39 – 34.

Which is really good news considering that Rasmussen has Republicans leading Dems nationally 41 – 39 in a generic congressional ballot.

In the same Quinnipiac poll Fisher leads Brunner in the primary 18% to 14% with 46% undecided. The […]

Hoops Holiday

On March 19, 2009 By

Today is a national holiday in case you were unaware. Many will know that I typically take the first Thursday and Friday off – or somewhat off – to watch the NCAA tournament. Though Kentucky is in the damned NIT, I’m still doing so. I’m a college hoops fanatic. I got a bracket filled out. My final 4 teams are the same as Obama’s. I’m ready to get this madness started!

So no politics today…or probably tomorrow either. One has to set priorities somewhere. I pick hoops over hoopla.

Thank you very much.

Have a nice day.

LOL. True hilarity. Pelosi and the Democrats in Congress are going to put a bill together that will tax by as much as 90% the bonuses that TARP company executives received. Retro-active back to January.

So Republicans and rightwing bloggers will come out with a groundswell of support of a 90% tax increase!

Talk about a rock and a hard place. Let’s see where the loyalty lies and how much intellectual honesty is out there on the right. Should be fun!

Did I get this right? Did the all seeing, all hearing, MahaRushie just call the tea party whackjobs lynch mobs? Surely not:

“A lynch mob is expanding: the peasants with their pitchforks surrounding the corporate headquarters of AIG, demanding heads. Death threats are pouring in. All of this being ginned up by the Obama administration.” Limbaugh later claimed, “This $500,000 limit on executive pay — let me tell you why it won’t work. New York City will die. New York City needs a whole bunch of people being paid a whole lot of money, so they can tax their butts […]

Early Take on AIG Hearing

On March 18, 2009 By

So the Republican talking point is that AIG never should have been given any money and the stimulus should have never been passed.

The Democratic talking point is that AIG executives should not be so greedy.

Rinse. Repeat.

A Sweetheart Like You

On March 18, 2009 By

They say that patriotism is the last refuge
To which a scoundrel clings.
Steal a little and they throw you in jail,
Steal a lot and they make you king.
There’s only one step down from here, baby,
It’s called the land of permanent bliss.
What’s a sweetheart like you doin’ in a dump like this?

Paulson. Bush. Remember Them?

On March 18, 2009 By

Apparently nobody does. Funny how, in light of the bonus outrage, nobody calls it “The Paulson Plan” anymore. Hard to make political hay out of something if you have to bash your own side in order to get to your opponent I guess.

Some remember:

I’m still totally amazed at the excessive bonus outrage on the right. Welcome to the party boys! Your party has been allowing us to get ripped off for years. Now you want accountability? That’s funny, right there.

Who Killed the Wyden/Snowe Bill?

On March 18, 2009 By

I sure wouldn’t want to be on the other end of the outrage when it’s discovered who killed this stimulus provision:

…a provision that would have forced bailout recipients to cap their bonuses at $100,000. Any amount paid above that would have been taxed at 35 percent. The language made it through the Senate, but during conference committee with the House, it was inexplicably removed.

I do have to quickly note that I’m really happy that my opponents on the right are finally getting on board and criticizing corporate excesses! I thought you’d never come running guys. LOL. Outrage! […]

It must be nice sitting up in a tower with white robes on completely removed from the reality that is life. Chalk this up to another reason why I consider myself to be a recovering Catholic:

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE ? Pope Benedict XVI said on his way to Africa Tuesday that condoms were not the answer in the continent’s fight against HIV, his first explicit statement on an issue that has divided even clergy working with AIDS patients.

Benedict had never directly addressed condom use. He has said that the Roman Catholic Church is in the forefront of […]
