In his weekly address today President Obama discussed his budget, claiming it would help cut the deficit and help improve the economy.
It wasn’t a great speech, but it did keep me engaged throughout and, by the end, I felt like I had a pretty good idea what he was trying to say and where he wanted to take the country.
Not so with the Republican follow up.
Continuing the trend of choosing total losers to respond to Obama’s speeches, the Republicans had Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi give the Republican response this week.
From what I remember of his speech (which isn’t much), Haley disagreed with President Obama. Calling him a tax and spend liberal, etc.
I tried to pay attention, but mainly I was sitting there thinking: “Dude! Your name is HALEY! And you are ragging on the president??”
He might as well have been introducing his two sons Shannon and Saxby, the male nurse and the women’s studies major.
Next time, I recommend the Republicans get someone with a very manly name to respond to President Obama’s speech. Bobby and Haley just aren’t going to cut it.
I suggest getting the guy with THE most manly name ever: Michael Steele.
