YouTube Bailout Commentary GOLD

On January 31, 2009 By

This is precisely why I love living in the YouTube generation. You find a great deal of crap there, sure. But every now and then you find pure comedy gold. Absolute sheer unadulterated hilarity. Today’s comes in the form of commentary by a land surveyor turned day trader from Charlotte, North Carolina “walstreetpro”. WARNING: Contains Adult Language and quite possibly will cause you to spew whatever you may be drinking on your laptop or keyboard. You’ve been warned:

If you haven’t cried enough, you might check some of his other videos. Good stuff.

Mother Jones got some great reaction commentary from Ohio’s own Matt Naugle today about Michael Steele’s big win.

Needless to say, Matt is pissed.

He too was rooting for a big win by Ken Blackwell – but for obviously different reasons. I wholeheartedly believe that Ken Blackwell could single-handedly run the GOP into the ground. Matt thinks the exact opposite.

So when Matt says that “No candidate was more un-Blackwell than Michael Steele”, it is certainly NOT a compliment for the new RNC chairman.

Personally, I think the GOP may have just saved their asses with today’s […]

A Kinder, Gentler RNC?

On January 30, 2009 By

Michael Steele was elected RNC chairman this afternoon. Ken Blackwell went out in the first round.

I really was rooting for Blackwell – hoping his homophobic conservative extremism would drive the Republican party further to the right and further away from the average American voter.

Instead they chose Michael Steele (considered the most moderate of the five candidates) who promised to “expand the reach of the party by competing for every group, everywhere”.

Sure, it’s possible Michael Steele’s win might actually have a similar effect by driving away the hard line social conservatives like Blackwell.

But it […]

Not ONE Republican? Srsly?

On January 30, 2009 By

Not a single one?

WASHINGTON ? Without a single Republican vote, President Obama won House approval on Wednesday for an $819 billion economic recovery plan as Congressional Democrats sought to temper their own differences over the enormous package of tax cuts and spending.

Any claim to bipartisanship by the Republicans is pure postering. Clearly. Republicans in the house all went down the same old road of partisan obfuscation and petty games. Apparently they aren’t listening to the American people who clearly voted for change. What they are offering is the same old things that got us here in the […]

Good Luck Mr. Blackwell

On January 29, 2009 By

The next RNC chairman will be elected tomorrow and I really, really, really hope it’s Ken Blackwell.

According to Ken he deserves to be chairman because “he has more than 4,000 friends on Facebook and owns seven guns.”

Well hot damn, that’s good enough for me.

He also has the endorsement of every religious extremist in the party and a win for Blackwell will almost guarantee years of internal strife for the Republicans as they move further to the right and further away from the average voter.

Best of luck Mr. Blackwell! We’re all rooting for you.

You may or may not have heard – but most likely could have predicted – Sarah ‘Merica has started a Politcal Action Committee; SarahPAC! The home page doesn’t have much yet, but it does have some gems.

SarahPAC believes energy independence is a cornerstone of the economic security and progress that every American family wants and deserves.

Well, we already know what this means – more drilling, less emphasis on fossil fuel alternatives. Yawn.

SarahPAC believes the Republican Party is at the threshold of an historic renaissance that will build a better future for all. Health care, education, […]

Somehow this got added to the text of HR 1:

None of the funds provided by this Act may be made available to the State of Illinois, or any agency of the State, unless (1) the use of such funds by the State is approved in legislation enacted by the State after the date of the enactment of this Act, or (2) Rod R. Blagojevich no longer holds the office of Governor of the State of Illinois.

See? Told ya:

That someone like Obama could be elected president of the United States?with its unrivaled power and prestige?has begun to restore the country?s and the world?s faith in America as the land of opportunity. Gone is the hunkered-down defensiveness of the past eight years, the lock-the-doors, draw-the-curtains, load-the-guns-to-keep-out-the-bad-guys mentality that turned so much of the world against us. In its place is the restoration of that classic American optimism, eyes lifted to the horizon, reaching out across continents and oceans, not in fear, but with faith that we can help build a better world.

How long […]

Haven’t had one of these in a while. A fan video made for MC Lars and YTCracker’s song “911 AM (Rudy Giuliani)”. As with most slide-show style fan videos, it’s a little hit-or-miss, but it does a decent job of underlining the themes of the track.

Relevant nerdcore hip-hop? Who knew?!? Bumpin’ beat, too.

Be sure to remove your shoes before entering security!

Ken Blackwell, New Media Ninja?

On January 26, 2009 By

According to Ken Blackwell’s Twitter Feed, facebook has stopped letting him add new friends:

“Apparently, I am such a new media ninja that Facebook will not allow me to add more friends beyond 5000”

Does this sound like something a 60 year old conservative extremist from southern Ohio might say?

I don’t think so either.

So I guess my question is: who is Twittering for Ken Blackwell?

(I’m pretty sure I already know the answer)
