Some great news from tonight. Obama winning, of course, tops the ticket, but it’s hardly the only good news. Nearly 2/3rds of voters under 30 voted Democratic. The margin in the US House grew (including Space holding a seat many thought 2 years ago would flip back to Republicans, and Kilroy taking a seat that has belonged to the GOP for decades). Tiberi looks likely to hold on to his seat, but Robinson came very close. Senate results aren’t in, and while it looks to be a bit of a long shot to get a filibuster-proof supermajority, the Democratic position will be a lot more solid going forward.
When the smoke clears tomorrow, we’ll have a better idea of exactly where we stand, but it seems that we are standing here at the birth of a new age of Liberalism in America.
