The Jewish New Year starts today. Happy New Year to everyone who celebrates.
And since I registered as a retired Jewish woman from Florida at JohnMcCain.com, I just got an email from Senator McCain and Sarah Palin wishing me a Happy and Sweet New Year.
This isn’t exactly the kind of email I was hoping to get. I figured it would be more harsh e.g. ‘Barack Obama kills Jewish babies’ or ‘B. Hussein Obama loves Iran’. That kind of trash.
But no. This email relies on the only pro-Jew credential McCain has: Joe Lieberman.

I tried to tell you that rain wouldn’t dampen the desire for change. Rain wouldn’t dampen the enthusiasm we all have for a fresh new brand of leadership. Rain simply could not wash away the change we need. Supporters in Denver could have proven it if the Christfascists at Focus on the Family would have had their way.

February 6, 1967. Ernie Terrell was fighting Muhammad Ali for the heavyweight crown. Terrell was technically the champion, though the boxing world still recognized Ali since he was stripped of his crown for converting to Islam and associating with The Nation of Islam. The boxing world only recognizes champions decided in a ring. So Terrell was really the challenger and he decided to continue to call Ali by his former name Cassius Clay.
