Leave it to Matt Naugle to push some story about Barack Obama supporting infanticide.

It’s a disturbing little tale that fits, miraculously, into a neat little box tied up with a big, crucifix-covered, Jesus-blood colored bow.

In short: Barack Obama wants to kill babies.

Lovely.

So I followed the links and read the information and I posted a comment over at NaugBlog.

I’m not sure why I bothered. Matt never responds to comments on his own blog. Or maybe he does but he uses fake names or something.

In this case someone named Sara responded. I guess it could have been Matt. Or his sister. Or some random girl named Sara. Who knows?

It’s his blog and he can do whatever the hell he wants when it comes to responding to comments.

But from my perspective: if I’m not going to get a response from the author then I’m not going to bother commenting anymore. Instead, I’ll just post here at Plunderbund.

So what follows is the response I was going to write to Sara- naugleblog commentor and Obama hater- regarding the “proof” she provided in the form of a link to the op ed section of the ultra-conservative Chicago Tribune…

You can try all you want to make this into a political issue, Sara. But it’s not a battle you are going to win.

You can try to accuse the Democrats of supporting abortions but it is a flat out lie.

No one, I repeat, NO ONE is pro-abortion. Not Barack Obama. Not doctors who perform abortions. Not me. No one.

No one wants to go through that, or participate in it or see it happen. It is a horrible experience for everyone involved. And there isn’t a person on this planet that doesn’t think we should all work together to reduce the number of abortions performed around the world.

And, whether you want to believe it or not, the best way to do that is to educate young people about birth control. Period. Full stop. The End.

If you REALLY believe that life begins at conception, Sara, then you should be out there pushing for any and every possible solution to conception avoidance- something Obama/Biden support and something McCain/Palin, with their abstinence-only education policy, can never achieve.

  • The problem here – and I believe you are aware – is that nobody on the right wants to have a rational discussion on the issue. All they want to do is drive a wedge between those who would seek to restrict the rights of others to honor their personal beliefs and those who see it as it is.

I think Sarah Palin has made it really clear with her daughter situation that a woman’s choice coupled with a support network and access to resources is the best way to go.

I think Dems should start describing themselves as pro-life and explain it precisely the way you have. I know I do. “Pro-life” and “Pro-choice” are not mutually exclusive.

  • And even if you can find someone who is willing to have a conversation on the topic, they eventually start using “fetuses have fingernails at 2 weeks” type arguments.

And then they tend to get upset when you respond with: so the human soul is located in your fingernails?

(if that’s the case- my daughters have the tiniest souls in the world)

Wow- I didn’t know someone else has also saved Alan Keyes’ email newsletters from the 2004 Illinois Senate campaign. Naugle is clearly recycling those here. Even the same breathlessly hysterical tone.
