Leave it to Matt Naugle to push some story about Barack Obama supporting infanticide.

It’s a disturbing little tale that fits, miraculously, into a neat little box tied up with a big, crucifix-covered, Jesus-blood colored bow.

In short: Barack Obama wants to kill babies.

So I followed the links and read the information and I posted a comment over at NaugBlog.

I’m not sure why I bothered. Matt never responds to comments on his own blog. Or maybe he does but he uses fake names or something.

In this case someone named Sara responded. I guess […]

Fiorina and McCain = Greatness

On September 16, 2008 By

The most enjoyable thing about the recent economic flareup in the Presidential campaign (and there are so many) has been watching Carly Fiorina give McCain a one-two punch.

Punch 1:

asked by a St. Louis radio station today whether she thought McCain’s running mate Sarah Palin could run a big company like her, Fiorina flubbed her answer.

“No, I don’t,” Fiorina replied. “But that’s not what she’s running for. Running a corporation is a different set of things.”

Later on MSNBC, she tried to explain herself, but managed to make things worse. “I don’t think John McCain […]

Ultra-patriotic wingnuts have become our nations’ hall monitors for Flag Etiquette.

They love to accuse Democrats of disrespecting the American Flag and use any such violation or perceived violation as further proof that Democrats hate America. (yes, Ralph, I’m talking about you.)

Republicans seem to think they have some kind of monopoly on patriotism. This, of course, just isn’t true.

Democrats love this country as much- if not more than Republicans. We just choose to express that patriotism in different, more subtle ways like actually helping out our fellow Americans and working to make our a country […]

Ohio Wind Terror, Day 3

On September 16, 2008 By

The puddles of water in front of my refrigerator indicate we’ve hit the 48 hour mark. Three days without power at my house in Clintonville now and still no sign of any power company vehicles.

According to AEP’s latest estimates, power to Columbus won’t be restored completely until Sunday evening. Seven days after the storm.

I really hope PUCO takes this into account when they decide whether to approve the 45% rate increase AEP is trying to impose on customers in Ohio.

I’d like to see them tie a service level agreement to the rate hike that would […]

I know we are supposed to be talking about the issues, but this is just too fucking funny to pass up: Sarah Palin Baby Name Generator

If I was Sarah’s kid I’d be named: Spackle Camshaft Palin

Barack Obama: Tarp Lazer Palin
John McCain: Steam Fangs Palin
Joseph Biden: Knife Pile Palin (Joe Biden: Beans Harpoon Palin )

YouTube Tuesday: Rage on the Radio

On September 16, 2008 By

Not short, funny, pithy… but important. Bill Moyers takes on right-wing radio. This is must-watch stuff; dismissing people like Savage or Coulter as “harmless entertainment” is dangerous and wrong.

As if it wasn’t obvious enough already, here’s some more proof that McCain/Palin are totally weak when it comes to the economy:

Carly Fiorina, a key surrogate for John McCain on economic issues, said on Tuesday that Sarah Palin does not have the experience needed to run a major company like the one that Fiorina formerly headed.

“Do you think [Sarah Palin] has the experience to run a major company, like Hewlett Packard?” asked the host.

“No, I don’t,” responded Fiorina. “But you know what? That’s not what she’s running for.”

You’re right, Fiorina. […]

I thought I was in Bizarro World yesterday when I turned on the TV and saw John McCain calling for MORE REGULATION of Wall Street in response to the news that Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy and Merrill Lynch was getting sold.

It sounds to me like McCain’s call for more regulation goes against one of the basic beliefs of the GOP: free markets solve all problems i.e. less regulation is better.

From this year’s Republican Party Platform:

Government interference in the markets exacerbates problems in the marketplace and causes the free market to take longer to correct […]
