Eric pointed me to
this piece by Roger Ebert last night. It’s short and to the point and definitely worth reading.
He makes the observation that your average American likes Sarah Palin because she is like them: poorly traveled, lacking an ivy league education, etc. Average Americans like her for the same reason they like the contestants on American Idol: because they think “that could be me up there.”
