I remember watching the 2004 Democratic Convention and thinking everyone was acting like a bunch of pussies for not attacking Bush and the war. Until, of course, an 81 year old Jimmy Carter got up and smacked Bush down.
From Carter’s 2004 speech:
But recent policies have cost our nation its reputation as the world’s most admired champion of freedom and justice.
What a difference these few months of extremism have made.
The United States has alienated its allies, dismayed its friends, and inadvertently gratified its enemies by proclaiming a confused and disturbing strategy of preemptive war.
With our allies disunited, the world resenting us, and the Middle East ablaze, we need John Kerry to restore life to the global war against terrorism.
Funny thing: everyone was pissed at Carter for it. And, oh yeah, we lost the damn election in part because of sissy behavior like this on the part of the Dems.
I thought we’d learned our lesson, but now I not so sure because The Hill is reporting that President Carter’s only remarks this year will be during some sort of movie about the Katrina disaster.
If we are going to win this year we need to stop being a bunch of wimps.
