Ohio officials are preparing for the possible loss of up to 6,000 jobs in Clinton County after DHL announced yesterday plans to partner with UPS for its U.S. domestic air shipments.

The Department of Development has promised to assist workers if they lose their jobs.

I think this is a good time repeat my previous advice to the ODOD:

MyOhioNow wants to build a casino in Clinton County that will bring up to 5,000 jobs to the area.

This is the same county where DHL is located and almost the same number of jobs that will be lost at DHL.

  • What we really need is a tax increase. That will bring lots of jobs back to Ohio.

  • Always with the taxes, eh Gordon?

My point was: why are we turning away people who want to bring money and jobs to Ohio?

These people want to build a destination hotel and casino in our state and they aren’t asking for big tax breaks to do it.

They aren’t complaining that Ohio’s tax structure is bad for business.

Why are we fighting against it?

  • laughing out loud, Gordon

Seriously though, this reminded me, what ever happened the Keno stuff…was it officially shelved?

  • The money to buy the keno equipment was already approved by the controlling board.

I think I heard they are rolling it out in July.
