Today’s news cycle has been overtaken by the story of Barack Obama’s pastor of 20 years Jeremiah Wright and some stupid stuff he was recorded saying.

In a couple of weeks people will forget all about the stupid stuff Mr. Wright said.

But hopefully they will remember one thing:

Well- it looks like the State Senate DOESN’T haven’t any more sense than the House.

They just passed HB 314, an anti-choice bill that basically forces doctors to perform an ultrasound before performing an abortion and to give a picture of the embryo/fetus to the patient.

Like I said before, this bill has nothing to do with informed consent and everything to do with the religious right trying to force their values on the rest of us.

Governor Strickland needs to veto HB 314. ( click here to let him know )

Did I mention that someone broke into my garage recently and stole my lawnmower?

There’s that and the fact that someone has been breaking into cars in my neighborhood- usually smashing the back window in the process.

So when I read Mayor Mike’s State of the City speech three things jumped out immediately…

1. Coleman promises to continue putting more officers on the street along with the purchase of 150 new cruisers. More police on the streets = less crime.

Howard Metzenbaum died in his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this week. He was 90 years old.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that he moved to Florida. It’s warm and sunny and there are lots of other old people – many from Ohio – who can hang out and talk about the good old days.

My great grandparents moved to Florida after they retired. My grandfather still lives there now. I’ve even heard my parents toss the idea around recently. And after being belted with the recent record snowfall in Ohio, who can blame them.
