News Flash: another Republican congressman screws up- this time RAISING MONEY FOR TERRORISTS!

From the AP:

A former congressman and delegate to the United Nations was indicted Wednesday as part of a terrorist fundraising ring that allegedly sent more than $130,000 to an al-Qaida and Taliban supporter who has threatened U.S. and international troops in Afghanistan.

The former Republican congressman from Michigan, Mark Deli Siljander, was charged with money laundering, conspiracy and obstructing justice for allegedly lying about lobbying senators on behalf of an Islamic charity that authorities said was secretly sending funds to terrorists.

I actually kind of feel bad for the Huckabee family when I look at these pictures- which are all kind of sad and really make you wonder if Huckabee knows what he’s getting into here.

We NEED to keep religion out of government.

I talked about this in a post yesterday discussing the similarities between the bible and the Koran.

If we try to use our religious texts as the basis for our government- like they do in certain islamic countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia- then we risk losing everything about America that makes it great.

Unfortunately, it looks like the leading Republican candidates are all but promising to make that a reality.

More talk about VP candidates – this time from the Sandusky Register’s Rufus G.W. Sanders who predicts:

It will be after South Carolina the name of Ted Strickland will begin to surface as the leading candidate for the Democratic vice-presidential nominee. Even though Bill Richardson will definitely be on the short list; it is the governor of Ohio who will be considered seriously.

While I still think Ted would make a great VP- I’m fairly certain Hillary will not pick Ted for her running mate.
