More bad news for Charter Schools today.
Roseda Goff, the Former School Superintendent of City Day Community schools in Dayton was sentenced today for blocking a report of suspected child abuse.
I hate to say it- but it really is another example of Charter Schools making really bad choices about their leaders.
The crazy thing about this story is how long it went on- and how much crap had to happen before they eventually fired this women.
Last February the State began investigating City Day schools – specifically a ‘consultant’ hired by Goff- after students made amazing and quite unbelievable jumps in their test scores thanks to training by the consultant.
What happened after that shows how fucked up our charter school system is. Just check out these headlines from the Dayton Daily News:
|April 10, 2007||City Day on “probation”|
|May 16, 2007||City Day sponsor urges superintendent’s removal|
|May 21, 2007||ERCO to City Day: Fire Goff or else|

|May 30, 2007||Board defies order to fire superintendent|
|May 31, 2007||Sponsor may close school or fire board|

Finally, on July 11, 2007 City Day finally fired Goff. And a few weeks later she was being investigated for calling an abused girl a liar- and sending her home to get beat up again.
How many examples of bad charter school management do we need to see in Ohio until we change our system?
