It’s a brave new world indeed, as a survey is out that shows the US is one of the worst surveillance states in the world.
In terms of statutory protections and privacy enforcement, the US is the worst ranking country in the democratic world. In terms of overall privacy protection the United States has performed very poorly, being out-ranked by both India and the Philippines and falling into the “black” category, denoting endemic surveillance.

The Ohio GOP blog published a post today title “Marc Dann is a national embarrassment”.
Their reasoning: Marc Dann had to reprimand his communications director (Leo Jennings) for using profanity in an email.
The way I see it- Jennings may be a foul-mouthed, short-tempered- but this is obviously not a scandal and certainly not a national embarrassment- nothing along the lines of, say, Ohio Republican Congressman Bob Ney pleading guilty to corruption charges or Ohio’s Republican Governor Bob Taft being convicted for accepting and failing to report gifts and golf outings.
