POLAND, OHIO – Ohio State freshman Marissa Plakosh was shot and killed in her Youngstown-area home when she was on holiday break at about 5:50 a.m. Saturday, December 15.
The victim, her brother and a family friend were seated in the same room when the friend was handling a loaded firearm. It discharged once and struck her in the neck, according to Poland Township Police.

The Buckeye Institute is pushing something called “Personal Wellness and Responsibility Accounts” – which are basically health savings accounts for really poor people.
It goes something like this: “eligible residents” (aka poor people) take 5% of their income and put it into a health savings account- which they use to pay for basic medical expenses. They need to use all of this money first before they can get any help from the state for their medical bills.

Mike Huckabee has been surging in the polls lately.
If you read last week’s NY Times piece about Huckabee then you might actually believe the guy has a chance. With a good showing in Iowa and a LOT more fundraising of course.
Honestly, I never really thought Mike had any chance of winning the primary and CERTAINLY not the general election- but a new Rasmussen poll shows that Huckabee along with the GOP candidates have a better chance at winning in Ohio than I originally thought.
