I think we’ve established that the GOP hates immigrants- especially Spanish-speaking immigrants.

So I guess it should come as no surprise that State Rep. Bill Batchelder has introduced a bill “to require that commercial driver’s license tests be given in English.”

To determine a person’s ability to understand highway warnings or traffic signs or directions, any test or examination given to a person to obtain or retain a commercial driver’s license or commercial driver’s temporary instruction permit under this chapter shall be administered in the English language only, without the assistance of an interpreter.

According to Batchelder “This is not an English only bill, but a safety bill” – which is total bullshit and exactly the kind of thing you would expect him to say.

Reading and understanding the questions on a test IS VERY DIFFERENT than understanding “highway warnings or traffic signs or directions.”
