I can’t believe I missed this story on Politico.com last month! I know I’m a little late with it- but I just can’t pass it up…

I remember with great fondness watching Senator Rick Santorum give his concession speech last November.

I also remember not feeling the least bit sorry for his daughter as she stood on stage next to her father crying.

I was so happy that this corrupt, gay-hating asshat lost that I actually laughed at his little crying daughter and made fun of the fact that she and her doll were dressed the same.

This says something about how much I hate Rick Santorum.

Anyway- it turns out that some people actually felt bad for little Sarah Santorum.

One of those people was Leslie Satcher- a Nashville songwriter who admits to being a ?big Fox News junky? and, I can only assume, a big fan of Santorum and his christofascist agenda.

Satcher was so moved by the image of this little girl crying that she decided to write a song about it. The song was picked up my Martina McBride and will appear on her new album.

According to Satcher, ?The song is about the fact that we are a faith-believing, conservative nation, and that voice gets very little front-page time to me.?

Asked why she picked this song McBride said, “I?d been looking for a song that talks about these times we live in, and addresses issues that really bother me.”

I find it doubtful that Martina McBride is really bothered by the fact that the liberal media does a crappy job of portraying the values of our “faith-believing, conservative nation”. But hey- I guess you do what you gotta do to sell records to country music fans.

Rick Santorum recently found out about the song told his overly-emotional young daughter. ?She started crying again,? Santorum said.

  • Here are the lyrics, in case you are interested:

In these times in which we live
Where the worst of what we live
Is laid out for all the world on the front page
And the sound of someone?s heartbreak
Is a sound bite at the news break
With a close shot of the tears rollin? down their face
Blessed be the child who turns a loving eye
    And stops to pray
For these times in which we live

Big surprise: the second verse is about the troops and the third touches on faith.

  • I believe that photo was dubbed: “Little House On the Prairie and the Chamber of Secrets”.

    Best.

    Caption.

    Ever.

  • #1: I do believe you just lie in wait for opportunities to post that photo.

…and I just love you for that!

  • I hate that Rick Santorum SOOOO MUCH!
