Jerid at BSB was, not surprisingly, the first one to report on today’s ruling by the Ohio Elections Commission that Bob Latta “knowingly or recklessly lied about opponent Steve Buehrer?s positions in political flyers.”

But the Toledo Blade just posted some additional info about the Latta v Buehrer fight related, specifically, to Scott Pullins, Latta’s lawyer.

The Ohio Elections Commission unanimously slapped congressional candidate Bob Latta with a reprimand after ruling today that his congressional campaign knowingly or recklessly lied about opponent Steve Buehrer?s positions in political flyers.

Even the Latta campaign?s attorney, Scott Pullins, admitted statements […]

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The gunpowder, treason and plot,
I know of no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot

Today is Guy Fawkes Day.

On November 5, Britain remembers Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot. Fawkes, an ensign, had taken the lead in a 1605 plot to blow up the houses of parliament at Westminster as part of a Catholic effort to bring down the protestant monarchy in England. He was apprehended, allegedly in the act itself, taken to the Tower and subjected to torture. For centuries, Guy Fawkes Day marked the […]

Presidential Snapshots

On November 5, 2007 By

ABCNews.com gathered up photos of the candidates along with information on their plans for Halloween.

All of the photos came from the campaigns- so you’d think they’d all contain cute and happy kids.

And some of them do.

John Edwards with his suspenders and a huge grin…

Or Mike Huckabee in oversized boots and a fireman’s hat…

But not all of the pictures are that cute.

In her baby picture, for example, Hillary Clinton has a huge head…

And McCain’s photo just leaves me wondering a couple of things: 1. why is he wearing a dress? […]

Everyone should read this article by Scott Raab of Esquire Magazine- especially all you Kucinich-haters.

From the opening paragraph:

So when I tell you that Dennis Kucinich is first of all a sane, sane man, and secondly, fit to be president — and thirdly: It’s Kucinich time, now, because what this blue-balled, war-thwacked nation needs is not another scleroid corporate whore but a sixty-one-year-old vegan peacemonger, poor beyond corruption and honest as spit, hauling balls big enough to both choke Dick Cheney and keep a smile like a woozy kitten’s on the love-lit face of a twenty-nine-year-old heartthrob […]

Theme for ’08? Change, duh!

On November 5, 2007 By

from ABC News:

Change

A clear demand is for change; 75 percent want to see the next president lead the nation in a direction different from Bush’s. That compares to just 47 percent who held that view at this point in Bill Clinton’s presidency, 55 percent in Ronald Reagan’s. Even among Republicans, a bare majority wants a change in direction from Bush’s.

Couldn’t be clearer. The challenge is in not letting the GOP wipe the slate clean by putting up a fresh face and calling for “change”. Make them play the hand they dealt – and they’ve spent […]

The Dispatch is reporting that the Republicans finally have a candidate in the 15th: State Sen. Steve Stivers.

State Sen. Steve Stivers of Upper Arlington today will announce his candidacy for the 15th Congressional District seat, likely setting up a showdown with Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy in what could be the nation’s premier congressional race in 2008.

“I’ve decided to run for Congress because I think we really need change in Washington,” Stivers told The Dispatch yesterday. “There is way too much bickering and not enough working together to get things done.”

Stivers is scheduled to hold a news […]
