I wrote about treason earlier in that the Republicans want to filibuster energy legislation that would decrease our reliance on Middle Eastern oil. How about preventing Arabic linguists from serving in the Army because they are gay? Treason? I think so. John Aravosis of AmericaBLOG has been in the lead on this issue from the start and is featured in this Robert Greenwald short and petition:
This short frustrated the hell out of me, as the stories have for a while now about gay linguists in the military (or not in) who want to serve but also want to be recognized for who they are. Cutting off your nose to spite your face comes to mind. It takes a great deal to control the anger I have for people who would put us at greater risk because they want to stubbornly hold to a bigotted ideal.
Do something. Sign the petition to end “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”. Stand up for civil rights. Stand up for the security of our country. I’m asking everyone reading this to do so. Now.
