Mama’s Boy spouted off this gem this afternoon:
Now if we could only start drilling in the frozen dead zone known as “ANWR.”
My reply: this frozen dead zone?
For what? 0.8% of the world’s oil production in 20 years when it’s finally at peak production? The DoEnergy estimates that the cost of gasoline would drop by no more than a few pennies per gallon – when at peak production 20 years from now. And at the risk of substantial ecological damage. Hardly seems worth it.
Besides, gas prices will always be rising. It’s what happens when we […]Full Story... →
House Republicans – you know, the guys previously led with an iron fist by “The Hammer” – have decided that the minority party in Congress deserves some protection. In fact, they want bipartisan administration of the House and regular democratic order for legislation.
Something they mysteriously were against just two years ago. I wonder what changed?
My favorite part?
Unfortunately, as you are well aware, the Democrats’ forty-year reign over the House was plagued by consistent, systematic efforts to usurp the rights and privileges of the Republican minority. Despite repeated statements to the contrary, we can only expect that […]Full Story... →
So while I’m on the topic of Republican’s saying silly things?
Outgoing House Majority Leader Boehner recently said “it’s important to ensure a minimum wage mandate does not have a harmful effect on small employers’ ability to create jobs for working families.”

How old is the Grand Canyon? The Park Service won’t say.
Grand Canyon National Park is not permitted to give an official estimate of the geologic age of its principal feature, due to pressure from Bush administration appointees. Despite promising a prompt review of its approval for a book claiming the Grand Canyon was created by Noah’s flood rather than by geologic forces, more than three years later no review has ever been done and the book remains on sale at the park, according to documents released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER).
?In order to avoid […]Full Story... →
Consistent with the church’s long held position that capital punishment is always wrong, the Vatican came out this past weekend and denounced the execution of Saddam Hussein.
“Killing the guilty one is not the way to rebuild justice and reconcile society,” the spokesman said. “On the contrary, there is the risk that the spirit of revenge is fueled and that the seeds of new violence are sown.”
My primary objection to the death penalty is based in practicality. It is difficult to ensure with 100% certainty that the man or woman to be executed is, in fact, the one […]Full Story... →
