More Chandra Support Coming In

On March 13, 2006 By

from email:

Dear Supporter,

I’m pleased to announce that several important organizations have recently endorsed my candidacy.

The Hardin County Democrats voted unanimously to endorse last week. The United Steel Workers of America, Local 2L, in Akron, also voted overwhelmingly to endorse, noting that “When you are in trouble, as Ohio is, you need a skillful, intelligent, and experienced lawyer-not just a politician with a law degree.”

In addition to these endorsements, the Athens County Democratic Party took a straw poll over the weekend. The results show that 74 percent of Democrats in Athens County support my candidacy. Please see […]

Sandra Day O’Connor, a Republican-appointed judge who retired last month after 24 years on the supreme court, has said the US is in danger of edging towards dictatorship if the party’s rightwingers continue to attack the judiciary…

How about it Betsy? This qualify as a Republican attack? Will you mark this down on your ledger please?

Molly Ivins: Damn Straight!

On March 13, 2006 By

I referenced this quote below related to the poor polling of Sherrod Brown, inferring of course that Hackett was our guy:

This is not a time for a candidate who will offend no one; it is time for a candidate who takes clear stands and kicks ass.

But I think you really need to read the whole damned thing. Print it out. Pass it out. Put a magnet to it and stick in on the fridge. Tape it to your freakin’ forehead. And don’t forget it!

Especially this:

I am tired of having the party nomination decided before the first […]

His most resounding applause came when he talked about Bush’s commitment to the war in Iraq.

“To retreat now, before the job is done . . . is something this president will not allow,” he said.

“We were right to remove Saddam Hussein from power, and the world is a safer place for our actions.”

He praised the Iraqi people and said that nation’s economy has improved and that “the terrorists are turning on each other.”

“As long as America stands with them, the Iraqis will reject terrorism,” he said.

Now Turd Blossum, we all […]

OK, I’m a hoops nut. Slightly more so even than a Steeler football fan – OK, way more so! While Brown’s fans get all hyped about off-season moves that might just stop a Steeler blitz, I’m busy analyzing the shit out of a field of 65 desperately trying to get it all figured out by Thursday noon.

So, if from Thursday to Sunday my posts are a bit light…you’ll know why. Now, on to my initial reading of the bracket:

She don’t like gays

She don’t like abortions

She don’t like anything liberal

Update: Of course the hardest working man in the OH politicoblogginsphere had this up 3 days ago – and some comments as well. One commenter pointed out this quote from a recent Molly Ivins Progressive article:

This is not a time for a candidate who will offend no one; it is time for a candidate who takes clear stands and kicks ass.

The good news? Most in Ohio are leaning away from Republicans, both statewide and nationally.

The bad news? Sherrod Brown is getting pounded!

With eight months until the 2006 mid-term elections, Ohio is

Man, I’m not happy about missing these two conversations. First was Jean Ackerman, running for State House – 21st District. Jean is an educator and talks about education, budgets, school vouchers, CAT tax, gay adoption, and more. She sounds really bright and energetic, and did it all while tending to a toddler it appears!

Check it out at BSB (audio included)

Random thought: How appropriate is it that Russell does this at Scotty McBean’s?

He also interviews Paul Ackerman and Ryan Fissel, founders of the Contract For Ohio. Audio for this is also included. Check it out […]

Shamansky Launches New Website

On March 13, 2006 By

A new site has been launched for the Bob Shamansky for Congress campaign. The site is based on open source software and includes a blog, calendar, and soap box (which I’m new to). There is a link to ActBlue, which is being used as a way to manage contributions. Bob’s theme is “Honest Leadership for Central Ohio”. Though a bit bland, this is a good way to pound on the culture of corruption without overusing that now much overused phrase.

After spending some time talking to Bob, I really came away liking the guy. Yeah, he’s […]
