Meanwhile Back In The Desert

On February 22, 2006 By

…all hell is breaking loose (hat tip UAPA):

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Feb. 22 ? A powerful explosion shattered the golden dome of one of Iraq’s most revered Shiite shrines this morning, setting off a day of almost unparalleled sectarian fury in cities and towns across Iraq as protesting mobs took to the streets to chant for revenge and set fire to dozens of Sunni mosques. (NYT)

Not good:

Protests? You want protests? We got your protests right here:

Juan Cole weighs in (says this could be a civil war tipping point), as does Dan […]

I love uncle Jack Cafferty. He is becoming must see TV much like Jon Stewart. Jack really does boil it down and call bullshit with a quickness – and I have adopted him as my uncle for that. Namaste Jack!

According to the PD’s Openers, there are protests planned for Bush’s visit to help DeWine raise money. This would have been the day many were having Hackett house parties, so I think it might be a good time to head down there instead. Maybe even wear your Hackett shirt…that’s be funny.

Local Democrats already have their sign made. It’s a huge banner reading, ”Mission Not Accomplished.” They plan to hang it on an overpass sometime before dawn.

Big money politics at its best. 10k for a photo with the biggest dumbass ever to govern these United States. What […]

“That’s Politics” My Ass

On February 22, 2006 By

OK. I’ve had it with this “that’s politics” argument…along with “get over it”…and the ever-present “Dems unite” calls! Let me say this one more time v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y: You don’t get to use the “Dems unite” line in this situation. That would be for a won primary. NOT for swiftboating (and yes, you did it along with many other underhanded things thus far) your opponent OUT of the primary. I’m not so sure why this is so hard to understand.

I expect oppo research, leaks, and hardball politics to be played against our opponents on the right. I simply don’t expect […]

Subodh: Outside Looking In?

On February 22, 2006 By

So Chandra gets no dual endorsement by a vote of 12-11? It will be very interesting to see what the Executive Committee does tonight. I don’t think it would make sense for them to endorse given this situation, but I’m sure arm twisting has already begun in earnest.

I’m going to try to make it down, but can’t make any promises as yet.

For what it’s worth, I like Subody in this. His speeches have been pretty much amazing – showing up every single person at the Delaware Dems dinner in my opinion. It will be sad if a […]

Brown Goes On The Defensive

On February 22, 2006 By

“A week and a half ago, Paul Hackett got out of the (Senate) race and said it was the Deomocratic bosses that pushed him out. Then he said he got out of the race because he didn’t have enough money. Then he said he got out of the race because his poll numbers were too low. Now he’s saying our campaign is spreading rumors.

hmmm…how about all of the above?

“It’s absolutely not true. I heard lots of rumors about Paul Hackett months ago. Connie (Brown’s wife, Connie Schultz) and I heard it together from somebody. We immediately […]
