No lie. That’s how he puts it: Re-re-recruitment. LOL. And it’s a DCCC success! Woohoo. Pass me some of that please. Ah…thanks… (Hackett’s Move In OH)
Official announcement forthcoming…for sure…
Full Story... →Rolling Stone has a great and timely piece that comments on the news today regarding establishment Dems lobbying Paul to get out of the Senate race. It’s worth a full read, but I like this:
Committing to a candidate like Hackett means committing to changing business as usual — and despite their mounting losses, the Democratic establishment seems to have an unholy commitment to the status quo.
Full Story... →Zero truth to all the stuff you’ve heard regarding Hackett getting out of the Senate race and getting into the OH02 Congressional race. Zip. Zilch. Nada. I’ve got it from several sources close to the campaign that it is all crap. In fact, it appears to have been all fabricated and leaked out by Rahm Emanuel, which is not surprising given his public statement today.
Expect to hear from the Hackett campaign soon that Paul will remain in the race and expect the rhetoric to heat up in the next few days. Underhanded politics coming out of Chicago? Naw. […]
Full Story... →via cleveland.com:
But former Sen. John Glenn, a one-time Marine fighter pilot and astronaut, has some political wisdom of his own for Hackett, a Marine Reserve major: Tune out what all the others are telling you. “All the people that want to advise you, tell ?em to save their breath.”
Glenn said in a telephone interview that if he had listened to the party?s wise men way back when, he might not have made it to the Senate.
“They wanted me to run for lieutenant governor with Gilligan,? he said. That would be ex-guv John Gilligan, who served a […]
Full Story... →Kos is blowing up at the moment. Greatest thing about it is Markos’ analysis:
The bottom line? Hackett is either staying in or he’s dropping out. But either way he’ll have to make an announcement soon to clear things up.
LOL. Bottom line folks. Right there.
Some say Hackett out…Mallory was just a premature factuator…others say hell no Hackett is dug in and currently setting up a perimeter! I personally haven’t heard anything to make me think Hackett is pulling out and entering the OH02 race again. I’ll wait for the official stuff at this point. One thing I […]
Full Story... →Paul,
OK, they’ve blasted away Fingerhut. It sounds like you are next based on the weekend chorus of “Run again in OH02 Paul” and “We need your leadership there” and “Let’s pull together…”…blah…blah…blah. What they are really saying is we have a new plan and your Senate run does not fit into it. It’s Sherrod Brown’s turn. Noone else need apply.
I say call their bluff and don’t capitulate. It will bolster your outsider image even more and while you may not get establishment Dems behind you, you’ll get a shitload of younger and more energized types who are […]
Full Story... →This post seems to think so. I’ve emailed Nate to see if I can get the press release he refers to…
Uh…No. OK, It appears that the Mallory PR was merely asking Paul to run in OH02 instead of Senate. Nothing new there. The Hackett campaign asked them to retract a statement. I’ll post both PR when I get them. Mallory, btw, is part of the Strickland/Brown streamroller.
Original Mallory release stated:
“I applaud Paul Hackett for making the difficult decision to step out of the race for the US Senate and to step in to the race […]
Full Story... →At the risk of tipping the blog echo chamber even further into ad nauseum, I couldn’t pass up the title of this article in the Sydney Morning Herald…as well as add a few comments. What me comment?
Couple things. First is peppering. Peppering is something you do to green beans or grilled fish. Getting shot in the face is, well, getting fucking shot in the face! I love the line, “Yayup. Old man Whittington got peppered purt good by god”. I actually can’t stop chuckling because of it.
Second is irony. Now I ask you. Is it not […]
Full Story... →From The Dispatch:
Thomas W. Noe, the coin dealer and prominent Republican contributor whose $50 million state coin investment sparked one of the biggest state government scandals in Ohio history, was indicted today on 53 felonies.
Fire up those COC talking points!
Absolute power corrupts absolutely:
Forgery – 22 counts
Money laundering – 11 counts
Tampering with records – 8 counts
Aggravated theft – 6 counts
Grand theft – 5 counts
Pattern of corrupt activity – 1 count
Ouch!
Full Story... →Well, TR seems to be right on target thus far. Not gonna happen. Brown would rather pressure Dem insiders than sit in front of Ohio voters and debate his opponent.
Here is the email from the Brown camp:
Hi Eric,
Thank you so much for your request. We appreciate your interest in this very important Senate race. The volume of requests is currently very high. I will be reviewing all of the requests for upcoming dates and get back to you if this request is something that the Congressman will be able to accomidate.
Thank you again,
[…]

Hackett at Table for One
Paul Hackett is guest blogging at TPM Cafe. His first post is up and is pretty much classic Hackett. Career politicians, energizing Dems, gaining a majority…all the stuff we know him for as well as a healthy does of Iraq. The distillation being: “Lets make real change, right now.”
I think the answer to critics who might say he doesn’t have a domestic agenda is a good one, which is to say we can’t do anything at home until we stop spending billions on Iraq and other things that don’t truly secure us.
This, though, was classic Paul Hackett:
