Washington and Lincoln? Really.
Update: I stand corrected. He was right. PBD found a secret memo detailing Washington’s actions (they are looking for Lincoln stuff too):
Date: April 1, 1790
To: The Attorney General, The Honorable Edmund Randolph
From: President George Washington
Re: Domestic Eavesdropping and Wiretapping Program
Dear Mr. Randolph:
Because our new nation and constitutional system is in its infancy, and because we face a terrible and persistent enemy in the natives, I hereby authorize you to wiretap and eavesdrop on all communications within the United States including telephones, internet, email, cell phone, satellite, ham radio, and any other form of communications you deem necessary. These actions are defendable under the commander-in-chief clause of the U.S. Constitution.
Get going on this?rumor has it that a Bill of Rights is being drafted in our midst. It is no doubt being penned by James Madison and others who are in allegiance with Mr. Jefferson and have a pre-1776 mindset.
Very best of luck to you good sir.
