[Cues Bullshit Alarm] Ohio House Speaker Jon Husted wants Dems to have a seat at the table to discuss, among other things, fairer redistricting. Folks, I’m having another one of those “Well Fuck Me” moments. According to the Plain Dealer, Husted is “extending an olive branch” in a rare “gesture of bipartisanship”. Damn near ruined my laptop just then…should had a barf bag handy.

Although Republicans universally opposed the election reform amendments, which were promoted and bankrolled by Democrats, Husted candidly acknowledges that reforms are critically needed nonetheless…Husted intends to solicit their participation in discussions on how to create a fairer system, especially when it comes to drawing legislative and congressional districts.

The PD goes on to suggest that Dems engage Husted:

Husted appears to be trying something different. That’s encouraging. What remains to be seen is whether the Democrats are smart enough to engage him in constructive dialogue.

Yeah, and if they do you won’t stop hearing me yell about it. I have a suggestion for the Dems response and it’s known throughout Central Europe and elsewhere as the one fingered salute. A phrase ending in “and the horse you rode in on” comes to mind. The only thing I want Dems talking about, even at some horseshit bipartisan table, is the on-going corruption that gerrymandering, pay-to-play, and a flawed election system has gotten us. That’s it. Period.

They want to talk about how reforms are critically needed after the bullshit they pulled on RON. You have GOT to be fucking kidding me!

Democracy Guy has even better visuals:

Ohio Democrats, take the noose the Ohio GOP has fashioned for itself, and stick it into their desperate outstretched hand, and show them your backside.

Note: Richard Cordray had mentioned something about this at the dinner on Saturday night, but we did not go into much detail. I gave him a weird look when he said Repubs had invited them to the table to talk about doing something post-RON. He just said “we’ll see”.

Also, found two more DG posts related to this (I’m behind…International travel does that to ya): Here and here.
